Hymn of the Wanderer

My heart grows cold in the twilight
As the miles pass me by
My soul cries out to the moonlight
And my mind cannot see why
Darkness and doubt surround my soul
Leaves confidence unfed
Must find my home before the toll
Reaches amounts that I dread

The footsteps I've set into dust
Are swept into the night
And people I have learned to trust
Are lost now to my plight
The stars are veiled, I've lost my way
And now I stand alone
To face my fate by dawning day
And sins I must atone

The sky turns grey, the light is near
My night has seen its end
Though storms hang low on roads I fear
My wrongs I can amend
I see my home, can find my way
And swiftly find my bed
I pray to God that here I'll stay
From the long life that I've led
